Grizzly in town

I was told there has been a grizzly close to town, as I am walking to work. I said to the guy as long as I can run faster than you I'm ok. I know what he was thinking, he was ok... I said hey you would be surprised how fast I could run if I saw a grizzly. I have to change my yak tracs to my runners, boots are too heavy. NoWAY I am going to be bear bate, so long fella.

I moved to a very nice place, I have a gorgeous view of the Artic Ocean out my livingroom window. It has vaulted ceilings, and a newer building so the kitchen is modern. I love the pantry and storage areas (hiding places). I have received 8 peices of my 104 pieces. So I got my bed and my couches (without the cushions)  but they ripped my couch in a few places. I have had a issue with the moving co. they said they would reassemble everything they took apart. Now I'm here and they said nope we just dump it in the front door. Nic so some things I will not be able to get back together, like the lazy boys they removed the backs, which took three of them to remove. GRRR I told them if that is the case send them back. Battle on!

I leave tomorrow for the Kitikmeot region tour. I am sooo excited.

DS (dear sister-Cor) can you mail up some of those water wings size XXXXL

Also note to people like me that didn't know---milk freezes just fine

  1. Frozen milk = Ice Cream. Right?
How do you pour frozen milk on your Cheerios? Maybe you just freeze the Cheerios already in the milk? While you're at it -freeze some oreos in there too. Convenience food.
Like you you guys are convenience food to the Grizz. Probably hates getting those yak trax stuck in his teeth though.
Your place looks nice! How big is it?
Your view is gonna be pretty.
Have fun flying around.....it will be very exciting. Green with envy right now (not about the frozen milk part)
Love ya - travel safe! DS

  3. Your new home looks nice. Lots of light.

What happens if your furniture arrives while you are away? Wouldn't it be great if you found everything unpacked and put away when you got home from your trip?

I hope you are taking your camera with you on your tour. Have fun.

  4. If my stuff arrives while I'm away, a co-worker has my key and they will pass it on to have it dumped in.
The only way it would all be put away is if my Mr. Clean was up there. He arrives May 5. Then let the decorating, plastic wrapping begin!
New place has tons of light, even till almost 10 pm now. When I get back it will be light out till after 10 pm. That is going to be strange.

  6. Forgot to comment on your post "saw a giant white bunny, they grow big here. I didn't want to get to close, they might bite. There almost as big as a dog, so who knows how vicious they are..Might make the local paper dumb blonde attacked by white bunny..scary"
How could I have missed that opportunity??
Maybe you should wear bunny repellant?
Of all the white animals you could be scared of...Polar Bears....you picked Bunny? He might snuggle you to death? Lots of stories in the news about Bunny Bites, Bunny Attacks, Vicious Bunnies, Death by Bunny. Google it

  7. Hello From Kansas!
Actually I was born and raised in Manitoba and then lived over 30 years in south central British Columbia. BRRRRRR I'm cold just looking at your photo's! I found your blog through Ann's blog Thibeault's Table and thought I'd check it out. You're a brave woman but we Canadian's are a hardy bunch although my husband would probably disagree with that statement when it comes to me. I'm a 'cold woos' as he puts it. I'm getting soft down here..I admit it. Well I'm going to have fun looking through your old posts. Stay safe and keep your runners on just in case that grizzly is around!

  8. Thanks Maura but I would have to say that my husband would say I'm a severe "cold woos". But the right clothes and living and working close is good. My biggest fear was power outage and I know where the Caribou pelts lives... They say it rarely happens and when it has it only goes out for half an hour.
Leaving Taloyoak tomorrow, it is very very cold here. The kids are soo cute, they all ask my name and then say Hi Shannon. They see you and have no fear of strangers! Well off to Kugaaruk for a few days.. So far the weather has been all sun and cold..

  9. Hi Shannon,
Looks like you are settling in just fine, the house looks livable. As for cream in the coffee, you better start learning to drink your coffee black at that price.

  10. Hey Shawn and Tina

I'm on the tour at the moment, I'm in Kugaaruk tonight. I would rather quit coffee than drink it black.
    How was Disneyland?

  11. I have already wondered why they don't milk the Caribou?? I could start a Caribou farm, ranch dairy farm what ever to call it Boumilk. I wonder how that tastes? My thought of everything new "How does that taste?" I know they could catch them it would be how to contain them. The snow goes so high they would just walk over the fences..

  12. I was told the difference between the kids from down south is: Kids down south cry when they watch Bambi. Kids in the north watch Bambi with a toy gun...It's all about the food. I like though little guys..
